Qualifications:
Twenty years of experience working one-to-one with DC Metro area students with learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD, emotional/psychological disorders, as well as students of average and above average academic capabilities. Classroom teaching experience in public and private schools, work in educational diagnostic agencies which provide testing for learning disability accommodations, SAT/ACT accommodations, gifted status and admissions qualifications, IEP representation, consulting, and advocacy.

Professional Experience:

Teacher, Tutor, Academic Consultant, Mentor, Educational Diagnostician and Advocate:
Served circa 100 families throughout the DC Metro area as a one-to-one private tutor with students whose ages extended from K- Post-Secondary, focusing mostly on adolescents. Logged over 15,000 hours of private sessions. Most academic subjects addressed into the collegiate level, mathematics, and humanities primarily, but comfortable with any subject area. Languages include basic Spanish and Norwegian. 1996 – present. Advocate at IEP meetings, facilitator and liaison between school staff, psychologists, parents, students, and attorneys.

Educational Diagnostician
– Petersen Academic Group, Reston VA
Administered various psycho-educational battery tests to students including the WISC, WAIS, Woodcock-Johnson, WIAT, and other standardized tests to determine learning disabilities and/or “giftedness” in children. Evaluated results for final written reports. 1998-2002.

Founder and Director – Learning Center at Fairfax Collegiate School
Founded the learning center at the first Fairfax Collegiate School location in Falls Church, Va. Oversaw the hiring of tutors, conducted math and reading assessments, client acquisition, and accounting. 1998-2000.

Teacher – New School of Northern VA
Taught Algebra, English, and World Studies at the intermediate and high school levels at the New School of Northern VA. 1999 – 2000.

On-site Supervisor and Teaching Assistant – Bridge School, Potomac High School, MD
Taught and assisted in humanities, math, and science for students with Emotional Disabilities and Learning Disabilities. Managed behavior charts and chairman of positive reinforcement committee. 1996.
